KU Wins, but it wasn't easy

The above photo has the UMKC Kangaroos and Markieff Morris battling for the rebound.

KU opened it's 2008-09 season tonight. The first half the 'Hawks didn't look like a team out there. I am not sure whether it was a case of nerves playing in front of the home crowd or what. But the first half Cole Aldrich picked up two quick fouls and he had to sit out the first half.

Sitting out the first half wasn't great for the 'Hawks at all. It looked pretty iffy if they were going to win the game at all. They trailed most of the first half and the score was tied with a basket from Brady Morningstar the close of the first half.

When the second half started Cole Aldrich kept out of foul trouble and really played well. He had the most points of the 'Hawks by the end of the game with 15 points. Sherron Collins played well too, with 14 points. Tyrel Reed looked impressive as well, his point total was 12. I was most impressed with freshmen Releford, Tyshawn Taylor, Quintrell Thomas, and Markieff (MK) Morris. The Jayhawks have a young team. We have to give them some time to see how well they progress.

Their next game is Tuesday against Florida International at home. It will be on ESPNU. So it will be another radio game for those of you who don't have the U channel.

Rock Chalk Jayhawks!
