Barnstorming/Little things

KU barnstorming tour has started. We were already to go to the one in Hutchinson, then S delivered the news, she couldn't go. She is going to a Forensics tournament that day. As far, as we know, she won't be able to go, unless the schedule changes. If she can't go, then we won't go. I thought "Hey I'll bet we go to the one in Wichita." So I wrote to Lyman (a facebook buddy) who works there and he said it was sold out as he tried getting tickets for himself last week. My "facebook buddy" has connections too, so if he couldn't get tickets then there is none to be found. At least we got to go to two games this year at Allen Fieldhouse! The Barnstorming game is so fun! You have to wait in line for hours to get autographs and then watch the senior college players play basketball. Often times they have great dunks and spectacular shots. We have been to two barnstorming games. The first year we saw Jeff Graves. The game was held at the Hutch High gym. We got to talk with the players and Graves was really nice! Even his family came down for the game. They auctioned off his shoes and the kids took pictures with all three seniors that year.

The next year that we went was when Wayne Simien, Keith Langford, Aaron Miles, and Michael Lee were players. J's friend S and family made it out for that game. We waited in line for hours to get autographs. UGH!! I should have been saving seats near the court instead of standing in line. Seth's family saved seats and got great ones. In fact Seth and Kirk got to play with the 'Hawks. They often take kids out of the crowd to play. A lot like watching "The Globetrotters" basketball team play. It is a pretty cool deal. At the end of the game, L was walking on the court and Michael Lee gave him a high five. Those college kids are really nice and great role models.

So we are disappointed that S has a forensics tournament that day. But at least we did see KU play this past year. You can bet we will be making plans to go to another game or two in AFH this upcoming year. Although, it may be harder to get tickets there because of their popularity!

It's the little things in life that can make your day and bring a smile on your face. Sometimes, it is the one who brings you a treat while recuperating; an old college friend who writes on your wall in facebook; a friend who blogged about her daughter playing a piece of music that you used to play when you were younger; or another friend who helps you understand the process of home health and caring for the elderly. Thank you! It just puts a smile on my face! :-) --see?

Oh good grief, the trophy's not even cold and she's already making plans for next year. ;) LOL just kidding.

Yes it is good to appreciate the little things. I don't do that nearly enough.
