S went to Wichita to get her braces. We took her after her Geometry test (before 11) and we were thinking she would get back to school later in the day. HA!
It takes us approximately 50 minutes to get over to the orthodontist. We got there just a little before noon and the procedure lasted until 1:15PM. L and I were hungry and S ate BEFORE the procedure. She just wanted a shake. So we take the drive through and we are 15 minutes out of Wichita (around the twin bridges area before you hit the Viola exit), then S discovers that one of her brackets were loose. So we had to turn around and head back to Wichita. I call the office explaining what happen and that we were coming back in. Well, that office was on lunch break and I was explaining this to the east office. It takes us 15 minutes to get back and the office was full!!
S is just beside herself. She was fuming. She did nothing to cause this bracket to get loose. She had a liquid shake! We waited for yet another 15 -20 minutes as they "had to work us into the schedule." It was their fault, yet we were being penalized for it. She finally got in and it took only 10 minutes to fix it. By this time she realized that she was going to miss the entire half day. She was hoping she would have been back by 3 pm but it didn't happen. We drive back to Harper and J was walking home from school, then S had to be at tennis practice in Anthony.
After her tennis practice she came back and had macaroni and cheese. This I would consider a pretty soft food. Now she has informed us ANOTHER bracket is loose! Agggh!! It would be nice if a satellite office of the orthodontist was closer but it isn't. We are going to wait to return to the orthodontist until the bracket is completely broke off!! That could be tonight by the way things are going.
It's aggravating to pay big bucks, drive 80 miles round trip, and not get the service right in the first place. No wonder we were reluctant to do the braces thing again.
I'm just crossing my fingers that in 4 years we WON'T have to do the same for J!
